FAQs

We Withhold is a collective uprising of women and allies who are done giving their time, labor, bodies, and silence to systems that do not serve them. It is a refusal to keep participating in structures that exploit our reproductive power, emotional labor, and economic influence. This movement is about reclaiming autonomy, making intentional choices, and realizing just how powerful withholding can be when done together.

The Pledge is personal.
The Petition is political. When you make the pledge, you are claiming ownership of what you are no longer willing to give away freely—whether that’s motherhood, labor, emotional caretaking, or unpaid work. No one’s holding you accountable but you. It’s a declaration of alignment and awakening.
The petition, on the other hand, is a public record. It’s how we demonstrate scale and demand. Every signature becomes part of a larger body calling for change—whether that’s policy reform, bodily autonomy, or economic justice.
-
These signatures won’t sit in silence. They will be used to:
Show lawmakers and political leaders that thousands of people are done participating in systems that harm them.
Gain press attention and legitimacy in media to grow the reach of the movement.
Lay the groundwork for larger actions—boycotts, campaigns, protests, and economic disruptions that center around women's collective refusal.
This is just the beginning. The signatures are our headcount for what's to come.

Anyone who resonates with the message of We Withhold is welcome. This movement centers women—especially those impacted by reproductive injustice—but is open to all genders, including non-binary individuals and men who are committed to dismantling patriarchal systems. You don’t have to be a mother or even want children to join. If you’re tired of being taken from, you belong here.
-
No. The pledge is for you. You can keep it completely private or share it as a way to inspire others—whatever feels most empowering. This is not about performance. It’s about embodiment.
-
That’s okay. Withholding begins with awareness. Just recognizing what you’ve been conditioned to give away—your energy, your voice, your “yes”—is a powerful first step. Take your time. When you’re ready, the pledge will be waiting.
-
No. This movement is not rooted in hate—it’s rooted in sovereignty. We Withhold challenges systems, not individuals. It’s about refusing to play roles that were never meant to serve us, and calling men in rather than pushing them out—if they’re willing to do the work to unlearn and support true equity.
-
No. This is a nonpartisan, non-religious movement. While our values may overlap with certain social or political causes, We Withhold exists beyond party lines. This is about deeper truths—bodily autonomy, collective power, and the liberation of our time, energy, and choices.
